and now for.....the rest of the story

So we did what most people would do........

No we didn't. We of course put on our happy, gratefull, cheery, we can do anything for a night faces and tucked the kids in, and lay down on the boards for the night. Keeping one eye open, which wasn't hard as I was turning over every 15 minutes to stop my body from falling asleep and prayed that we would all be safe and have a somewhat good sleep.

In the morning, Colton and Miranda thought it was all good. Dean and I felt pretty good considering we didn't sleep much. We all got up at 6am went to pee on the floor and got on our way to the Mekong Delta river.

We got picked up from the homestay by scooters  again and made the 20 minute ride to the Mekong river.
Colton and Miranda on one bike. Dean and I each on our own with the driver.

some of the streets were busy.

We had Veitnameese soup for breakfast at 7:30 before getting on our boat.

The market at the river
This lady and many others love to touch and talk to Miranda
Homes along the river

Doing laundry

Life is not easy for the people

We finished the tour at the river with Vietnamees pancakes. Not regular pancakes.
They are fryed vegi's and meat encased in an thin egg crepe. Then you take lettuce leaves and mint and other leaves. Place the hot mixture in them and roll up like a spring roll and dip in fish sauce.

When we got back to Saigon, We had a little tak with Vin, the tour guide about what tourists might expect when told the house at the home stay is really nice and has great beds and such. Just for future tours. He might want to show pictures and tell the truth so the home stay people don't get hurt by upset people who might not just put on the happy face and deal as best as possible with the situation.

What an experience though.

What an incredible adventure. I've been following your blog (and the kids as well) regularly and have really been enjoying watching your journey. I'm glad you're having the experience of a lifetime and staying safe at the same time.

At least I never made you sleep on boards! Goodness friend, you brought a smile to my day. And VIetnam and the river brings back the smells and sights of Thailand. Give everyone hugs for me.

Love,
Sara

(And yes, I did laugh out loud to think of you peeing on the floor)

It's a good thing we weren't along on this adventure...you know that a hotel with a/c is close to a requirement!? Glad you made it all work and lived to tell the tale!
